PC_q2_Anv04_Journal - Denymil's Dilemma
Denymil, a tribeless Bosmer in the poor district of Anvil, wishes to join the local Srethuun tribe here in the city, as he was excommunicated from his tribe back in Valenwood when he decided to leave for Cyrodiil. The treethane of Srethuun - Fimmion Srethuun - will accept Denymil, under the condition he finds a missing tribe member. Denymil asks you to join him, of course, as he's as weak as he is poor, this will lead you to a nearby bandit camp in which you'll discover the body of the missing tribe member. If Denymil survives the encounter and you return to Fimmion with Denymil in tact, Fimmion will accept Denymil into the tribe. Once you leave and re-enter, the Denymil you find out in the exterior will be gone and be replaced with a version in Canal West Tenets with the name "Denymil Srethuun" to denote his newfound tribehood. Alternatively, instead of finding the dead member's corpse, you could convince one Dairihill Thorimil that's very, very happy with you to help the Srethuun Tribe out in some way and use that as a bargaining chip if you don't think you'll be able to keep Denymil alive (or just don't wanna deal with the escort mission). What would be in it for Fimmion Srethuun would be... Idk. A minor advisory role to the Countess/Dairihill. Honestly it'd be more of a title that he could waive around than anything substantial, something Dairihill should make note of. This would be a path that'd be particularly easy to do if you've completed the Shore King questline first, but would still be possible if you boosted her disposition up to ridiculous levels.
Some notes: This quest is meant to showcase the nature of tribes in a way that doesn't require players to speak to specific npcs about specific topics. It's effectively a little slice of Valenwood this close to the border. Rithgoth, Fimmion, Disa, and Nirval are all recent immigrants, and make up the bulk of the Srethuun Tribe. Though only Rithgoth and the missing member are actually related (Fimmion and Nirval are mates). While most tribe Bosmer in Anvil are part of tribes elsewhere - such as Dairihill Thorimil being a member of the Thorimil tribe (royal tribe of Arenthia Kingdom), the Srethuun is entirely Anvil based after their move from Valenwood. To be tribeless in Bosmeri culture is akin to being homeless, someone with no family (literal or figurative) or say in Bosmeri matters. So naturally those not part of a tribe - either exiled or born of tribeless parents - are outcasts. Which is Denymil's main motivations. As far as Treethanes are concerned, Treethanes are the elected rulers of a given tribe. Though in this case Fimmion Srethuun's rule doesn't reach any further than his tribe members' apartments. Still though, being a treethane - albeit a very, very, minor and poor one as he is - does offer some respect from the local bosmer communities.
