Terrain Objects

Post by SGMonkey »

OK, as some of you from the IRC might know, I have been working on a few terrain objects. These were mainly as a blender learning exercise. Picked it up quite easily once I got a grip on the controls and after picking Lord Berandas's and Muspila's brains a few times.

Anyway. The models.
I modelled about 8 big cliff meshes. The idea of behind the cliff meshes is that you can rotate scale and throw them about any which way you like and not have to bother trying to align them or any of that time wasting nonsense. Snapping parts should be kept to a minimal, interior pieces and such.
You can see them thrown together quickly here...

The large cliff meshes are mostly done. Muspila is currently adding vertex paint to them since I don't use the old blender+nif scripts. I may add a transparent trim to blend between the rock and grass areas as I have done in later meshes.
Some of the meshes may need the grass top UV scaling a little bit so that it is about right when at "1.00" scale in the editor. (Not found a good way to ensure the scale is the same across the board for all meshes)

Here are two nearly finished ones. Of the small dirt variety...

These are the latest ones I've made and the ones I'm most pleased with.
I will be modelling a few more variations of these.

All of these models, (with the current textures) are intended for use in the Iliac Bay region. There will likely be multiple versions of the meshes with different textures and such.
After these are all 100% I plan to model some simple rock formations.

Once all that is done I plan to start modelling flora!

Will update as things progress. Cheers guys!

I have finished the remaining cliff pieces some days ago, already. I'll hand them to you, when we meet next time on irc.

Been a bit busy but finally got around to modelling the last 2 models today.

They are pretty much done. After running around n game I noticed a couple of issues. But nothing that will take a lot of effort.
