Needed Assets for Skyrim

Post by worsas »

I'll use this thread to keep a general list of our needed assets in the first post. If you have any things on your mind that are needed for the medium-term future development, let it be known here.

Skyrim assets ToDo - List

Interior
  • Interior Shells for out imperial fortresses (retex of the vanilla imp interior tiles)
  • Further Barrow Interior Tiles and other stuff to be found in barrows (sculptures, wordwalls, metal doors, etc)
  • The Haafingar Interior Shells.
Exterior
  • Barrow Doors, we are currently forced to using the vanilla barrow door in a few instances. Could be a simple retex. 1 or 2 variants would be welcomed.

Could use some more armor which can be used widely by all races as well as bandits. Low priority but wanted to post it anyway.

I'll possibly start working on some clothing and armor concepts for this project in addition to my work on Province: Cyrodiil. For the time being, I'll at least commit to developing the look of Skyrim's legion armor.

Some time ago I found a mod for plain chainmail armor, hope this can be useful.

We do have some chainmail armors from TR, but I wouldn't mind including this chainmail (the cuirass part) aswell, if everyone is for it.

I'm in support. We could use it for Breton-oriented armor, if the models holds up under further review.

Guys, after trials of preparing meshes I still meet some troubles with a correct transparency configuration for textures (3ds max and Nifscope), any help from someone familiar with transitions between 3ds max and nifscope will be appreciate there...

here are two meshes if you would like them to "plant" somewhere between fields or common farm roads...

I don't know much of 3DS-Max. But from looking at your files I can tell that you're trying to do something (opacity map) the MW engine does not support. The alpha needs to be together with the color texture in one dds-file. The NiAlphaProperty takes care of the rest. You can edit the alpha testing threshold to get rid of the blending issues you have with overlapping faces (or you can even disable blending and only do alpha testing). Select the nialphaproperty and edit flags to do so.

You should also avoid using any stencil properties, even for two sided faces, because they are only lit from one side and generally look odd ingame. For Grass meshes I still use them and there remain a few expections in Skyrim-Data, but otherwise I have stopped using them a long time ago. I always make two opposite faces instead. Your grass meshes could be treated as an exception, though, like the other grass objects used in Data.

I think this is where I should post it. But, I could add music that I will have written/arranged and produced. This would all be full orchestral rather then someone playing a guitar or piano. I would add some of the themes from other Elder Scroll Games, but mostly Skyrim themes. Such as Ancient Stones, Wind Guide You (Both as overworld songs), Streets of Whiterun (City Song), One They Fear (Battle Song). Just to list a few. But if I did post this in the wrong spot wher is it so I can re-post it.

Thankyou for your offer sdeborn. At the moment many of us are off to vacation. I only just returned from a two weeks trip myself.

I would be interested in hearing some of your music. If the soundtracks are cool and fitting, I have no doubt, we will be using them.

MacKom recently uploaded his Ancient Nordic armor resource, perhaps this could be of some use.

Those armor pieces look quite nice. But I'm not sure, they mesh well with our own assets. They follow a quite different style.

guys, this is a trial concept of a Lizard's Foot plant.

Although it doesn't relate at all to skyrim environment and colides with Whiterun area where it should grow according to conept. I thought it's quite interesting with it's shape and the "highly poisonous" color. The final references were a real paw of a lizard and it's ability to poison someone who would stumble across it without being careful.

I see a bigger connection to Elsweyr/Black Marsh lands but also thought about hot springs south of Windhelm

That is an awesome design, spineinside. If it isn't used in Skyrim, I'd love to use it in the southern, Black Marshy area in Lyithdonea.

This looks fantastic, like your widow kiss container plant (even its old version, which also looked great). For Skyrim I think the plants need to look a bit more basic indeed or at least more desaturated. The tremble weed is an example for a plant that features a weird shape but a more desaturated color.

As for the wizard foot, I think it should appear like a small, durable succulent plant. Making it small and almost grey in color (it could still reveal a colorful highlight somewhere) would be a possibility.

I have updated our list of needed assets now, including some more distant-future needs. The individual lists (except for the plantlife part) have been roughly sorted for priority. We won't need the Haafingar houses for a while yet, but they are listed for anyone interested in tackling them.

Since the Direnni assets are complete, we almost only have Nord - themed things left. Luckily many of the points on these lists are small tasks in and on themselves.

I like them. But would it be possible to put these ornaments on one of the barrow rock textures (tx_skyrim_barrow_stone_01.dds or tx_skyrim_barrow_nalin) instead, so they can be used for the complete province?

Here is a cowbell/crowbeak attempt, it's not much bigger than a standard heather plant. The inner side of petals are sightly darker than pictures show,
what do you think?

I didn't see this until now. Nice stuff. I could see this plant growing up in high pasturages above the treeline or popping out in rockgashs of a tundra environment.

By the way, would you mind uploading your lizardfoot plant? I'd like to tweak the texture, but otherwise use it as is.

Thankyou for finishing the engraved stone textures. It's appreciated.

For Lizards foot you need to contact with Melchior Dahrk. I feel.like taken from an Amish realm and i have drasticaly limited connection to internet and my offline assets :( I also put a cowbell into my download section when it will be possible.

There is an update in my section too, once i had a possibility and uploaded some stone additions to tombs

this i a quick trial of golden/ruby apparatus set. Thought I use worsas alembic model for these.
It might be useful as unique objects for a very special/ rich alchemist.

Any suggestions? I am still about to work on them cuz I am not perfectly satisfied with the result

Looks promising so far. I think it should be a unique set, if we choose to include it. Perhaps have a quest to gather them all, similar to the Sanguine artifacts of the Morag Tong. A foreign master alchemist travelling to Skyrim, because he learned that this was the last location of these famous apperatus artifacts. Can be sold to him or her for a hefty gold sum or free alchemy training.

If I should offer some criticism, I think the look of this set is better suited for Cyrodiill's colour scheme and vision, or another "southern" region for its origin. I'm sure P:C or SGMonkey's High Rock project would gladly take it. I can't really see anything "Skyrim" about it, and certainly not Direnni or Falmeri either. My concern is that with the limited number of unique artifacts our mod will offer, it would detract too much from the story we're trying to tell. As in, taking space from artifacts that would do better in letting the player know what sort of cultural and regional worldspace they're in. With limited modellers and modders, all assets should strive to help building our concept of Skyrim for storytelling purposes. I hope you understand what I'm aiming at here. I do have a lot of ideas for more Skyrim-oriented artifacts and assets, if you want some concepts to work off.

That being said, I like the colours and materials used. It looks like something a depraved and decadent Breton Daedralogist would have lying around in his dark tower.

I get you perfectly at the point of a southern wave with this material. It would be more suitable for warmer provinces indeed.

After several hours I really see the set needs a drastic shape and texture change. However, the existing texture looks pretty well for a cloth I believe. I'll tweak it up and see

Thankyou for sharing it back. I was prepared to do without the plant, by making a new version at some point in future. But it's great to have it now, which means I can take it from the above list! :D

Happy to help.

On another topic, on behalf of the creator, Stavroguin, I posted this image to TR last April to see if they were interested in the Imperial fort model he made but they weren't too interested. He reminded me of it again recently and I thought it looked like S:HotN aesthetic so I figured I'd see if you guys had a need. Reminded me of TES:V Winterhold.

edit: corrected image to the latest version of the tileset. Please click the link again if you already looked at it.
