Ubisoft uses misleading advertising for HoMM7

Post by Melchior Dahrk »

I pre-ordered the HoMM7 Collector's Edition and Ubisoft tried to pull a fast one by not even shipping it with a game. They wouldn't even acknowledge their mistake when I and many others complained about it on their forums. This affected all the US customers but not the EU. I helped raise awareness by posting this on Reddit: https://www.reddit.com/r/gaming/comment ... heroes_of/" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

And then Ubisoft couldn't ignore us any longer: https://mmh7.ubi.com/en/blog/post/view/ ... -s-edition" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

And it's all over the news now! And even crediting my imgur account. :D

Confirmed: Ubisoft is the worst company of the year in the gaming industry. I can't believe it has come to this... I've never been a "collector" of physical editions myself, but for those who are I can imagine this is beyond ridiculous.

Anyway, congratz on the Internet fame xD

To be honest, I had never had an issue with Ubisoft before. After Heroes 5 and 6 (which, despite what anyone else says about them, I really enjoyed), Ubisoft was on my list of publishers that I actually liked. I had even gotten over the double DRM with Uplay and Steam. So, perhaps somewhat naively I went in to pre-order HoMM7 thinking that with how much I liked 6, they couldn't/wouldn't get worse with 7. I was so immensely wrong. I have not been so utterly disappointed in a long time.

Still no response on my refund.

And thanks, it's been an interesting couple of days. I think that every single gaming news site has an article about it now where they link back to my imgur page in most cases. But I think IGN perpetuated some false information that the package came with a "game code". It did not. There was NO CODE or physical game in the box. We all had to actually submit a ticket to have the game added to our account. And they would add it to your account even if you said you didn't want the digital game and wanted a refund instead. Absolute scumbags.
