Cs- VS Ingame- Field of view

Post by worsas »

Some old screenshots I once took while working on an exterior claim. They show how the field of view in the cs rendering window makes everything look much smaller than it really is.
The misestimation of the actual size of an exterior area being worked on is one of the main issues I have been fighting with myself in any of the exterior claims I had so far.

If i remember correctly. The editor uses an FOV of 75. I may be wrong, but i know its low, might even be 60. The render window doesn't have a fixed resolution/aspect ratio either.

The CS doesn't have a high level of anisotropic filtering either, as you can tell from the ground textures. But that's a different story of course.

Anyway, if you set the FOV with MGEXE or whatever to around 60-75, then try some screenshots you should see similar results as in the CS. Honestly never found the difference to be a problem though.
