Lessons of Kjer Hollow-Throat

Breath control is key.

To properly use the Thu'um, you must first learn the nature the air that fills your lungs.

To begin, you must be aware of your body. Pay attention to it, feel the air flowing into your nostrils, down your throat and into your lungs. Listen, feel your lungs expand down to the deepest reaches of your diaphragm. Deep breaths, fill your lungs until you cannot anymore. Hold it inside like a fortress, feel your body tighten as if it had turned into steel. 1... 2... 3... Now exhale, slowly, that release you feel as the air flows out of you, deflating. This feeling of euphoric release, that is the essence of the Voice, the release of your very being. The return of that sacred gift of Kyne. Ponder this now, and repeat.

The Thu'um is not a quick thing to learn, for to learn the Voice you must learn yourself. You must feel this transaction being you and the keeper of the Sky, for you are her children. Take another breath, this time meditating on this blessed transaction. You are not taking the air, but borrowing it. To steal the air is to steal from a goddess. This beautiful exchange of her gift, to use this power she has given you for your own means. 1... 2... 3... Now exhale, this time focusing your breath in a single intent. Feel the vibrations ripple through your throat, through your mouth, and out; back into the sky for Kyne to receive again.

The nature of breath, the blessed exchange, is entirely cyclical. You can not breath what is not there, nor can you move what is unmovable. The laws of the voice, of which the goddess ordained, reach as far as the voice of the one who follow them. Know this, if you wish to master the voice, to shout as Ysmir did, you must first master what is within your reach.
